In junior high, I was obsessed with the Sleepover Friends book series — namely, the character of Stephanie, who exclusively wore black, white, and red. While my closet these days has expanded considerably in terms of color, I often think back to Stephanie’s ability to combine just three colors and keep creating such cool, put-together looks. (And, yes, I went through a phase of copying her.) These days, I’m more into the more simple-yet-chic combo of black and white, and it seems that Amazon agrees, since its new fashion storefront is literally packed with trending black and white styles.
Amazon’s curated black and white fashion selection is absolutely calling my name right now; the timeless color scheme is the perfect trend to take you from winter into spring. I’ve rounded up the eight items I’m adding to cart immediately, from heeled, colorblock boots to a slouchy cool-girl coat:
I have what can only be considered a lot of handbags. I like to change them up pretty frequently, creating different looks and breathing new life into older outfits. This shoulder bag by Niueimee is appealing not only for its affordable price point, but its checkerboard black-and-white design. It’s crafted in vegan leather with a subtly curved silhouette, top-zip closure, and two different straps (a shorter shoulder-length one and a longer crossbody one). Plus, it’s small but roomy, so it can comfortably hold a phone, lip gloss, and keys during a night out. Shoppers rave that “the quality is amazing” and say that it “holds more than you’d think” and “looks more expensive than it actually is.”
Slingback flats or knee-high boots? In the case of these styles from Adrizzlein and Chinese Laundry, why choose — especially when they’re both designed in fun, two-toned patterns. While I may not be adding Chanel tweed to my wardrobe quite yet, I can definitely settle for a lookalike with these $42 slingback flats. The pointed toe and stacked heel will look so elegant when paired with dark skinny jeans and a blazer, plus they’re available in sizes 5 to 13. One shopper said they’re “so comfortable and so pretty,” and multiple shoppers clocked their similarity to Chanel just like I did. Meanwhile, the Chinese Laundry boots are sophistication personified, thanks to a colorblocked black-and-white design and 3.5-inch curved heel. Just throw on a minidress and a leather jacket with these boots, and you’ve got the perfect day-to-night ‘fit.
The slouchy, relaxed fit of this BB Dakota by Steve Madden coat immediately caught my eye. Even though I live in Los Angeles, the nights tend to get cool, so this black-and-white herringbone style is a must in my cold-weather wardrobe. It has a single-button closure, wide shawl collar, side vents, and hip welt pockets. It comes in sizes S to L, and the longer length just begs to be worn over skinny jeans, dresses, wide-legged trousers — you name it. It also comes in a navy plaid, but the herringbone pattern has my black-and-white loving heart.
The subtle cropped fit, the three-button closure, the V-neckline … all of these elements add up to one seriously stylish cardigan. In my ongoing quest to find options that emulate my grandma’s ever-elegant cardigan style, I’ve turned up quite a few duds — but this BB Dakota x Steve Madden one is anything but. I love the colorblocked black and white design and the slouchy fit. It’s designed in an acrylic, wool, and polyester fabric blend with allover ribbing, and comes in sizes S to L.
