A Sydney dad has celebrated Father’s Day in the best way possible, taking home a whopping $2.5m in Saturday’s Lotto.
The Harrington Park man was entirely unaware he had scored one of the eight division one winning entries until an official from The Lott rang him on Sunday morning.
“It’s not a bad Father’s Day gift,” he reportedly told the official.
“I’m going to help out my adult children who have been doing it a bit tough.
“And I’d love to buy a new car for my wife.”
The delighted dad bought his winning 24-game QuickPick entry at Harrington Plaza Newsagency in Harrington Park.
The shop’s owner, Betty Wang, said Sunday’s surprise was “amazing” despite it not being the first division one entry sold at the newsagency.
“We’ve already had so many customers coming in to check their tickets hoping it was them,” she said.
“We wish our latest winner all the very best.”
Harrington Plaza Newsagency also sold a winning ticket in the Monday and Wednesday Lotto in November 2021.
The winning numbers in Saturday’s Lotto draw 4395 were 9, 37, 32, 41, 40 and 16, while the supplementary numbers were 26 and 30.
Across the nation there were eight division one winning entries in the draw – three in Victoria and NSW, and one each in Queensland and Western Australia.
Every division one winning entry pocketed $2.5m each.
