Kmart $20 mum jeans better than $100 pair

A woman has amazed Kmart shoppers after she shared a snap comparing the retailer’s $20 jeans to her “$100 A brand” purchase.

Taking to a popular Kmart Facebook group, the woman uploaded several images of herself wearing the expensive pair of mum jeans.

In what appears to be inside a Kmart change room, the woman then tries on the retailer’s much cheaper version with the biggest difference being the colour.

The Kmart version has a much lighter wash while the $100 pair are darker.

“$20 Kmart mum jeans v my $100 A brand,” the woman captioned the post alongside several shocked emojis.

But her post left some shoppers struggling to identify which pair was which.

“Which are the $100 ones?” one woman asked.

“The ones without the Kmart tags,” another replied, while a third joked: “Hahaha I didn’t even notice the tag at all.”

Some were adamant the $100 pair were from Kmart.

“I thought $100 were Kmart ones as they have that brighter blue haha Kmart for win,” one woman wrote.

Many then weighed in to give their verdict on which pair looked better, sparking a divide.

“Actually prefer the Kmart ones,” one Facebook user wrote.

“Your butt looks better in the Kmart jeans,” said another, while a third agreed: “Kmart ones are better and makes your butt stand out.”

“I dunno what it is about the fit but [Kmart jeans] just make your bum look so good!” a fourth woman joked.

It was all about the backside for some shoppers with another saying, “The Kmart ones passes the bum test.”

One woman said she bought an “A brand” pair of jeans last year.

“And then [I] found the Kmart ones. I actually wear the Kmart ones way more now,” she said, while another agreed the mum jeans are “so comfy”.

But not everyone was in favour of the cheaper alternative.

“$100 pair heaps better front on,” one woman commented.

“I think the front on are better in the $100 pair but side on and your booty look better in the Kmart ones,” a second woman wrote, while a third explained: “The Kmart ones look better – but I find they stretch and wear out super quick. I definitely think you get what you pay for with them. I have been through so many pairs.”

The Kmart shopper later updated her post to reveal that in the end she didn’t buy the $20 pair.

“I’m an in-between size and definitely would have wanted the next size up but they didn’t have it,” she wrote.

“[And] I was worried they’d be too big. Probably not the most flattering pics as I snapped them quickly. I loooove my A Brand ones but I’m defo tempted to snatch a pair of these to try. Thought they were a great alternative.”

The jeans, which also come in black, aren’t the only pair shoppers have been raving about. The retailer’s $25 high-waisted ‘Feel Good Jeans’ also caused a frenzy when they hit shelves last year.

“Seriously they are nicer than my Just Jeans ones,” Kmart shopper Meg Chilcott told news.com.au.

“The price, the high waist! They don’t feel uncomfortable like jeans can, don’t dig in. Just love them.”

Meg caused a spin over the figure-hugging pants when she posed two snaps of herself wearing them in the Kmart Mums Facebook group.

“These Kmart jeans are seriously amazing. I’ve had expensive jeans and these are better quality! $25,” she wrote in her post.

“They shape and contour! And go from a size 6-20 online!”

The jeans come in three different colours – Mid Wash, Dark Wash and Light Wash – and have a super high waistband, a small detail hundreds of the groups members were excited about.

The admiration for the pants – which according to Kmart’s website are made with a “four-way stretch fabric – continued to pour in, with Meg’s post receiving hundreds of comments.
